Spiritual Alignment

Have you ever been in the presence of some one who exudes peace, drive, confidence, and security? These are the people whose spirits, minds, and physical bodies are in sync. They seem to have balance in good times and in life's challenging moments.

People who have achieved this level of grounding have learned what it means to live a life of spiritual alignment. This is a life of balance, in harmony with all the parts of self and with the universe. We are born into the world spiritually aligned but life can bring much conflict, trauma, and grief that can cause an imbalance.

Feelings of depression fatigue irritability loss of concentration and irregular breathing are all signs of spiritual misalignment. Here are a few tips to realign and bring balance into your life.

1. Rest

  • get in the habit of going to bed earlier

  • turn off the phone, tv, and, internet

  • your diet may need to incorporate more vegetables and water

  • let go of stress

  • Yoga or spiritual meditation are excellent tools to manage stress.

  • Avoid over committing to strenuous activities

  • spend time with loved ones

2. Heal

  • If you’re struggling with situational depression, it may be that you need to make some time for healing in your life.

  • Depression is most often linked to loss of some kind. This can be the loss of a person, pet, dream, identity, or anything else you hold dear.

  • While there are always situations in which you may need professional help, sometimes you just need to change your practices.

  • starting each day with deep breathing and prayer to begin your day with an attitude of gratitude.

  • Speak with a trusted friend who is committed to your healing

3. Balance

  • irritability is often the result of an imbalance in our lives, hormones, or other physiological factors. If you find yourself feeling snappish, ask yourself about your current commitment to your physical health.

  • Are you getting enough exercise and movement each day? How much sugar or alcohol are you consuming on a regular basis? Is your diet balanced? How are your relationships?

  • Exercise decreases stress levels and increases confidence

  • Healthy relationships add value, feed, and nourish the spirit

4. Simplify

  • One of the surest signs of an over committed life is the inability to concentrate.

  • Feeling distracted or like nothing gets your best energy or focus is a frustrating and depleting way to live.

  • Eliminate what no longer serves you

  • Create a schedule that shows your commitments and decide if it accurately reflects how you want to spend your time.

  • Finally, create a sacred boundary around your time. Time is priceless and often needs more protection than we realize.

5. Breathe

  • Our breath is inextricably connected to the health of our spirit and the function of our body.

  • In times of stress or fear or anger, often the first thing to change is our ability to breathe.

  • Take time to notice if you’ve been holding your breath, taking shallow breaths, breathing in irregular patterns.

  • Begin each day with 4 deep breaths continue through the day as needed

  • consider any emotions you haven’t dealt with and begin to address them

Remember that a healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body. Please treat yourself well.
