How to Style: Silhouettes and Details
Updated: Mar 1
Good Morning Indigo Blue Stylers! I won’t make y'all wait any longer to, so let’s get right to it.
1) Balance: When picking which silhouette you want to rock on any given day, consider the balance of the look. Is your shape concealed by your boxy shaped dress or your oversized sweatshirt? Try exposing the shape of your legs. This allows you to balance out your look so it doesn’t look frumpy.
2) Get Waisted: Adding a belt around your waist can help to bring back your waist. This is especially good for those boy cut blazers or oversized tops. It doesn't necessarily create that "what waist?" look, but it brings your natural waist line.
3) Proportions: A great way to play with your silhouette is with paper bag styled skirts and pants. The proportions in how they are made can enhance you silhouette no matter what your size is. Because the top of the skirt or pants flowers out and there is cinching directly below, it gives the illusion that you have more of a waist than you actually do (this can also help to make your mid-section look more slim). Plus, you can get these type of bottoms to wear casually or for work, so the style is versatile and appropriate for more than one environment.
